In order to love ארץ ישראל, one must get to “know” ארץ ישראל. In this series of sessions we will virtually travel to different regions of the country, learn the history, both ancient and contemporary, visit the sites and learn about the people. As with all ISRAED sessions the virtual trip is live and therefore tailored to the grade level and background of the students.

Every session is accompanied by appropriate materials so that students can create their own ידיעת הארץ portfolio over the year.

We will take a “trip” around the עיר הנצח and visit many of these רחובות which contribute to the קדושה of ירושלים and to its political importance to מדינת ישראל

One of the four “holy” cities in ארץ ישראל is טבריה. Though not mentioned in תנ”ך, the city served as an important center of Jewish life and learning during the times of the משנה. We will learn about טבריה then and now.

Haifa, the third largest city in Israel, only developed as a major Jewish population center in the 20th century. The כרמל plays a major role in תנ”ך and מערת אליהו is a “must” destination to any trip to the area

The cities of חברון ובאר שבע figure prominently in ספר בראשית. It’s quite amazing that so many centuries later the descendants of the אבות ואמהות live in these same locations!

The mystical city of צפת served as the Jewish center in the North during many periods of Jewish History. However, it was in the 1500’s when צפת became the destination for many refugees of the Spanish Inquisition, that צפת assumed a prominent position as a center of Jewish learning and Kabbalah.

The area of the country which belonged to שבט דן has evolved into a population center and the economic center of the country.

are just some of the cities that we will explore

The eastern frontier of Israel hugs the ירדן as it flows from the כנרת to ים המלח. While this is the least populated area of Israel, there have been communities established that contribute to the welfare of מדינת ישראל.
